The Definition of Luxury Fashion

October 23, 2021 , Luxury Fashion Branding

Luxury fashion branding is the collective name given to high end, exclusive and highly collectable clothing. Luxury fashion branding began in the 19th century with Louis Vuitton and has come a long way since then. Luxury is now more important to the fashion industry than ever before with designers like Christian Dior and John Galliano creating whole new art forms within the art of fashion. In today’s world, it is easy to lose sight of the original vision and therefore, luxury fashion has never been more important than it is at the moment.

‘Luxe’ is not necessarily a synonym for ‘expensive’, but it is one that evokes the connotations and expectations that come along with the word. Luxury is no longer a status symbol, but rather a description that is felt by all who are privileged enough to own luxury items. The luxury label encompasses a far wider range of items than was once the case, but the defining elements are always still there. These words spoken by Gabrielle Coco Chanel back in the early twentieth century still remain as relevant today as they ever were.

A good luxury brand is one that creates an enduring image and cataloguing style. For example, John Galliano’s work is instantly recognisable and is known the world over as luxury fashion. His creations transcend their aesthetic purpose by being seen as works of art, with every piece an individual creation. In fact, Galliano’s designs are so well made and are so highly regarded that they are reproduced by a growing number of high end fashion houses.
